STYLEX WINS: Good Design Award

Stylex is kicking off 2013 in award-winning style with the Brooks chair garnering a 2012 GOOD DESIGN™ Award. Created in 1950 by Eero Saarinen, Edgar Kaufmann, Jr., and Charles and Ray Eames, the GOOD DESIGN™ Awards are annually organized by The Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design with the European Centre for Architecture, Art, Design and Urban Studies. The awards focus on innovation, quality, and beauty across all consumer design. Previous Stylex recipients of the GOOD DESIGN™ Award include SAVA, Avo, Luna, and Zephyr.

The Brooks stacking chair combines modern design elements with practical thinking about multi-use applications. Brooks is available in a variety of options: with or without arms; fully upholstered; plastic seat/back; wood seat/back; upholstered seat/plastic back; and upholstered seat/wood back. There are no visible fasteners, creating a graceful, clean construction. Brooks is GREENGUARD Certified.

AD CAMPAIGN: New SAVA Thin Pad Ads

Three years after its introduction, the SAVA chair remains a leading performer in the office seating world. This classic is debuting a new ad in the spring, featuring the Thin Pad version. Thin Pad features a richly luxurious seat and back with just the right degree of executive sophistication and tailoring. Here, SAVA shines in the Libeskind-designed San Francisco Jewish Museum, a contemporary space that wonderfully complements the chair’s clean lines.

Sava Wins Red Dot

Stylex has been awarded the prestigious Red Dot design award in the Product Design category for the SAVA chair by Sava Cvek. The Red Dot design award dates back to 1955 and is now one of the world’s largest and most distinguished design competitions with more than 14,000 participants from over 70 nations. In 2012, competition was particularly tough with 1,800 companies and independent designers from 58 countries submitting products for consideration for the “Red Dot Product Design” award. Within the competition’s 19 different categories, a total of 4,515 registrations were submitted, and SAVA was one of those selected for its high design quality!

Award-Winning Sava Chair Now Available!

SAVA, the multi-purpose office chair, designed by architect Sava Cvek, was first unveiled as a prototype at NeoCon 2010. Its introduction was followed by a good deal of positive buzz and a series of design awards including: Honoree in the Interior Design Best of Year Awards, a Best of NeoCon People’s Choice Award and the Chicago Athenauem GOOD DESIGN Award. With the start of the new year comes more good news: SAVA is now available for immediate shipment! A product based on years of research and development, SAVA offers users optimum comfort and productivity that is intuitively simple, highly versatile, and classically elegant. The multi-task version has four low-profile paddles to address seat height, seat depth, tilt tension, and tilt lock. Conference models are further simplified, with seat height and tilt lock only. Both conference and multi-task models incorporate the Balanced Tilt motion to help maintain an upright, yet relaxed, posture. Crafted in cast aluminum, SAVA is up to 98% recyclable, and like all Stylex products, is Greenguard certified. And last, but not least, the chair’s wide range of options allows architects and designers to lend their own craft to a project at a reasonable price-point.

Tech Corner: Spotlight on Mesh

Stylex has always been a big fan of mesh. It offers breathable comfort and contemporary appeal, which is why many of the company’s products have a mesh upholstery option. SAVA mesh, in particular, is constructed unlike any other. Its weave is designed to decrease surface “grab” that allows the eventual accumulation of small bits of clothing and dirt in the spaces between the mesh fibers. Stylex also uses advanced technology to create a multi-tension seating surface on mesh seats and backs. Greater support is provided through greater tension on those portions of the surface that support more weight. Other areas may be correspondingly less firm to promote movement and comfort. The end result: A cleaner, more comfortable chair that allows for superior weight distribution and better circulation. Now that’s ergonomics!
