The Iskos-Berlin team consists of Boris Berlin and Aleksej Iskos. Berlin is an industrial and graphic designer who was born in St. Petersburg. After graduating from the Institute of Applied Arts and Design, he worked freelance, designing a wide range of industrial products and graphics. In 1987, he co-founded Komplot Design which, over the years, received numerous design awards and distinctions as well as being represented in several design museums around the world, including the MOMA.
Iskos was raised in the Ukraine where he studied architecture and, later, education theory. After moving to Denmark in 1991, he graduated from the Institute of Industrial Design at Denmark’s Designskole and then began working at Komplot Design.
The multi-use Allround embodies elegant simplicity. Unpretentious, yet sophisticated, Allround’s quiet, balanced presence is perfect for dining, meetings, informal gatherings… in fact any activity where a low-key, flexible chair is in order.
Allround is available with a completely exposed wood shell or one of three different upholstery options – seat pad, full frontal liner, or fully upholstered. Armless bar and counter stools, as well as “small” shell stools in bar and counter height, are also available. The “small” shell is ideal for those applications where users will be unlikely to require maximum back support.
Allround radiates graceful, balanced softness. Boris Berlin, one half of the Iskos-Berlin design team, summed up its aesthetics as follows: “Probably the most complicated and noble discipline is to design without egotistic eccentricity. We set out to create a simple, well-functioning chair that has a quiet, but strong identity. Our goal was to make Allround both comfortable and harmonious. These chairs work in any architectural setting, doing equally well clustered around a table or in big numbers in conference halls and auditoriums.”
