Designing a chair is ideally about aesthetics, value, and ergonomics. It would be difficult to contend that a product is successful simply because it looks good or is well priced. Considerations of comfort and health are an inextricable part of the equation. This is what the field of ergonomics is about…man’s physical relation to and interaction with the objects of his environment. At Stylex, we take the ergonomic challenge seriously. In other words, we work to understand the environments where each product is likely to be used, so that the requisite support and flexibility are fully addressed. For certain products, such as side chairs, the transient nature of their use does not call for the same level of precaution as that required for task intensive applications. Even side seating, however, can be optimized to create a positive experience for the sitter, and achieving that goal is always a part of the design brief for any new product. Over the years, Stylex has worked with nationally recognized ergonomists, such as Marvin Dainoff, Ph.D., and Roberta Carson, MSIE, CPE, to ensure that our products respect the needs of their targeted users. Our task seating, in particular, has been developed to provide a variety of solutions for a broad range of individuals performing many different tasks. You will notice that several of our task seating lines offer models in multiple sizes with numerous options to address not only the budgets, but the actual physical needs, of different workers. The fact is that task intensive positions such as continuous keyboarding place heavy physical stress on those who perform them day-in and day-out. For such jobs, nothing less than optimum support is acceptable. Stylex offers you product that is up to this challenge by incorporating features which promote the user’s balance, angle, and motion in a manner that is both easy to understand and maintain within the average workplace. If you are considering the acquisition of seating for a challenging environment, please make sure you communicate these requirements to your Stylex representative or salesperson. They will be happy to assist you in making an appropriate selection. |
